Celebrated by the New York Times: “The Aftel Archive of Curious Scents is the first museum in the United States dedicated solely to the experience of natural fragrances.”
Our tiny museum contains the olfactory history of the world: hundreds of natural essences, raw ingredients and antique tinctures gathered from every corner of globe, and all available for visitors to experience.
Touch and smell raw ingredients like vetiver grass, benzoin resin and rose petals, sniff over 300 essences made from fruits, flowers, grasses, trees, and animal secretions (and take three samples home). Compare 100-year-old antique essences to their modern counterparts, compare natural ingredients to synthetics, and browse through century-old books.
Come smell, touch, read, imagine! Immerse yourself in beauty, slip into a world apart, a lost past!
