Only Holmes can solve the case, going so far as to resort to a unique disguise, while Watson falls head-over-heels for the Jersey Lily and a wicked professor attempts to bring the Crown to its knees.
Play history: Sherlock Holmes and The Case of The Jersey Lily premiered in 2008 at The People’s Light & Theatre Company, Malvern, PA. Since then, theater companies across North America from Los Angeles, CA to the Finger Lakes, NY to Milwaukee, WI to Dorset, VT to Houston TX to Vancouver, BC have performed this entertaining romp through fact and fiction.
Quote from the director, Phoebe Moyer: I was immediately attracted to the cleverness and the fun of the play which includes famous people who existed (Oscar Wilde, Lillie Langtry, and Abdul Karim), the wonderful depiction of false identities that eventually are revealed, special effects (fire, smoke, etc.), plus the wit of Oscar Wilde, the affair between Lillie Langtry and the son of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and, yes, for Sherlock fans: the amazing Sherlock himself, his loyal companion Dr. Watson, and the consummate villain Prof. Moriarty. There's something for everybody.
